Last week I wrote about trends in paint colors for 2016, and in doing my research I found a number of interesting trends were emerging in wall textures and wallpapers. So, as promised I have looked into it some more, and I am proud to report to you the unique wall trends for 2016.
Now, I am not going to sugar coat anything. You are going to think some of these trends are weird. So I ask you to keep just a few things in mind. One, you have to consider what you want for your space. Are you going to have a lot going on with accents, colors, and knickknacks? If so maybe a simpler design would work for you. Now if you have a more simplistic mentality with your furnishings, then you’ll have more room to play with different, bolder, louder wall concepts. This might just help you jazz up your room and give it more character than a simple wall color.
Two, some of the example photos go a tad bit extreme with the amount of wall paper they use. So, just keep in mind that you don’t have to pick one wall paper and use that on every wall in your entire home. You can put it on a portion of one wall or only on one/few accent walls. Okay well, I think you are now ready to take the journey into the brave reinvented world of wallpaper.
Wall Trends 2016
One of the biggest trends in interior design this year is texture. This can be reflected in throw blankets/pillows, curtains, furniture materials, and many more accent pieces. This trend has broken through into the wall world in an interesting way. The textured materials are either being used or mimicked.
Wood
The use of natural materials is a emerging trend this year. Reclaimed wood and white washed wood are one of the big texture trends this year. You can see this a lot in the Tiny House movement that is growing.
Metal
This material can give you room an industrial feel to your area. Depending on the type you choose it can also provide some reflection of light in the room.
Geometric Tile
This option can provide your room with some more depth and captivating intrigue. It can be deceiving with its sleek feel, but it’s textured appearance. Of course, you can always choose to add some actual textured tile as well.
Geometric Wallpaper
This wallpaper has infinite possibilities. Numerous patterns and colors and textures can be combined to create exactly what you would want for your space.
Metallic Wallpaper
This option is a sort of hodgepodge of metal and wallpaper. You combine geometric patterns with metallic lines and you now have a patterned wall that reflects light!
Mimic Wallpaper
This wallpaper is also very versatile and infinite in its possibilities. This style wallpaper mimics everything from beloved cities and streets to natural materials.
Wallpaper and textured wall trends in 2016 are an interesting way to liven up a room. There are infinite possibilities for every room and every personality. You just have to find what works best for you!
