Here is everything you need to know about popular paints in 2016. You’ve just closed on your beautiful new abode, and now what!?! Obviously, every buyer’s situation is different. Maybe you have time to fix it up just the way you want; or maybe you have the truck full of stuff ready to unload parked outside after closing. When you get to the point of painting (somewhere after putting the cabinets and appliances in and before laying down the flooring) here is what you need to consider.
What furniture do you already have that you are planning on keeping? If you are starting out fresh and you plan on getting new everything then you have a blank canvas as far as color. However, if you already have furniture and you have a little theme already started, then you’ve got to find the best colors that will match what you have.
Popular Paints in 2016
Purples
This year these colors aren’t just for Scooby Doo’s Daphne. From vibrant shades to soft hues, purple is in this year. These colors mix well with white or lighter furniture or accents. Violet is a calming color that is often associated with royalty and is thought to encourage deep contemplation or meditation.
Green
By far my favorite color, so I am happy to see that this is in the mix for this year. A bold green is what has people fascinated this year. This color pairs nicely with white furniture/ accents and wood stained pieces. Bring the outside in with green walls and wood furniture. Green is thought to be a refreshing color that bring rest and balance.
Blues
Here in Florida we have blue skies and waters, so it is not uncommon to see a lot of blue in our houses. Greyed-colors have taken our decade by storm, and this year it continues with grey-blues. This is a neutral alternative to sharp contrasting colors. These blues can be paired with most furniture and accent types and can be played up or down depending on your style. Blue is the color of intelligence and the mind and it is mentally soothing.
Clean White/ Neutrals
These two wall colors have the same concept…basically you make the walls a blank base and bring the room alive through the use of colored furniture/accents. Choosing to do this in areas with lots of light will make your room really pop with color. It is a bold move and not for the faint of heart, but it is a fun modern take on décor. Whites and neutrals give a room a clean sterile feel.
That is just colors! We are getting back into textures and wallpapers…which are a whole different subject in themselves. I sense a topic for next week’s blog so keep an eye out for it!
