Street Smarts Nowadays, electronic devices are everywhere. We have tablets, laptops, desktops, phones, TVs, as well as other electronics that keep us connected and entertained. Replacing those devices is actually a habit for people who crave the newest option with the extra features.
What to Do With Your Old Devices
So, what should you do with the old stuff?
Tossing electronics in the trash bin can produce a variety of problems. Several of these devices contain toxic substances, including mercury, cadmium, and lead, so dumping them can result in health concerns. We also have an influx of waste on our planet. Recycling your old electronics is a far better alternative. Regardless of where you live, you can find a location to recycle your devices. If your device no longer works, check in your area to locate an organization or location that accepts electronics.
In the event your device does still work, consider donating it or trading it in. Many charities and nonprofit organizations accept working devices and can pass them on to seniors or other people in your community. In some instances, you may be able to get cash back from your device. Through its GiveBack program, Apple provides gift cards and in-store credit for qualifying products. Amazon, meanwhile, will pay up to several hundred dollars for certain devices.
Don’t toss that old cell phone or computer in the trash! Protect the environment and potentially get something in exchange by recycling or trading it into a retailer.
