Los Cabos, Mexico List of Top 5 Beaches
No trip to Cabo San Lucas would be complete without hopping aboard a boat and going to photogenic Lover’s Beach. With many of the most magnificent views in Cabo, this isolated beach is nestled within the dramatic rock formations of Land’s End not far from Cabo’s iconic stone arch. Land’s End marks the meeting of the waters of the Pacific and the Sea of Cortez at the end of the Baja Peninsula. Facing Cabo San Lucas Bay, the waters of Lover’s Beach are often perfect for swimming, kayaking, standup paddling and snorkeling dependant on conditions. The adjacent Pacific-facing beach is referred to as “Divorce Beach” and is not safe for swimming due to large waves and powerful currents. To travel to Lover’s Beach, board a water taxi or glass bottom boat from the Cabo marina or Médano Beach. You’ll want to arrange your return time with the boat operator and bring what you’ll need for the day since there are no services. You’ll be rewarded with a stunning beach experience you won’t forget!
The indisputable heart of the waterfront in Cabo San Lucas, Médano Beach (“The Dune” in Spanish) is a gloriously long stretch of sand extending for two miles. Lined with exquisite resorts, stylish beach clubs and beachfront dining establishments, the beach buzzes with activity. Strolling beach vendors make their way down the sand peddling everything from jewelry to hair braiding. Great for swimming and watersports, you’ll find parasailing, jet ski and various activity vendors. Whether you want to people watch, spend an afternoon drinking margaritas on the sand, swim in the inviting waters or just stake out a spot to soak up the Baja sunshine, Médano offers a fun, lively scene. Médano Beach can be accessed via beachfront resorts, water taxi from the Cabo San Lucas Marina or via a cab ride (parking is scarce).
Palmilla Bay
Located near Km. 27 on the main highway and situated near the legendarily luxurious One&Only Palmilla Resort, this popular beach is a protected spot that regularly offers good conditions for snorkeling, swimming or kayaking. A popular with both travelers and Los Cabos locals, Palmilla Bay is a true gem. It’s yet another fun spot to watch the local fishermen and panga boats. Palapas shade structures and water sports equipment rentals are available.
Chileno Bay
Located in The Corridor area between Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo near Km. 14.5 on the main highway, Chileno Bay is a well-liked stop for snorkel cruises departing the Cabo marina. This gorgeous bay is one of the region’s best spots for snorkeling with many tropical fish in sheltered waters. Palm trees offer shade and you will find restrooms along with a parking area. This is the perfect spot to spend a morning admiring the views of the Sea of Cortez. Throughout the winter months, you’ll want to be on the lookout for migrating whales making their way down the shoreline.
Santa Maria Bay
Another beloved spot for snorkeling, Santa Maria Bay is found in the Corridor near Km. 13 on the main highway. This incredibly beautiful crescent-shaped bay offers protected waters, coarse sand with a pinkish hue and many small pieces of coral. Whether you choose to spend the entire day here or just a few hours, you’ll not regret the visit. Jump in to the waters to see many species of colorful fish. To visit, search for the sign on the main highway or board one of the numerous cruises from the Cabo San Lucas Marina.
