This week will be filled with fireworks, picnics, and celebrations. One of the best parts of any holiday is time spent with family and friends. But let’s not forget that this week is a time to celebrate our independence as we enjoy so many liberties that are easily taken for granted. Safety, shelter, an abundance of food and the rights afforded to us via the constitution. Many of our ancestors made huge sacrifices for our independence, and many more serve daily to ensure our independence, safety, and way of life.
Independence Day Celebrations
Something to Think About
Strange but true fact: John Adams and Thomas Jefferson, the only signers of the Declaration of Independence later to serve as United States Presidents, died on the same day, July 4, 1826, which was the 50th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
Weekly Activity
As you celebrate with friends and family this week, practice safety if handling fireworks. Fireworks are a part of 4th of July celebrations but are also responsible for many injuries each year.
