Parenting includes some surprises: diaper blowouts, kindergarten homework and intensely competitive soccer games. But one fun surprise may be the colorful art collection you’ll accumulate as you’re watching your little Picasso’s creativity blossom over the years.
Is this : An Ash Tray? Four Different ways to Show off Your Child’s Art
Regardless of what your little one’s artistic ability, it is something you’ll covet and inevitably wish to display. Below are four methods to showcase or cleverly disguise your kid’s art:
Display it as Actual Art – Art is subjective and you’ll be amazed to discover that some of your child’s art can make for something fun and inspiring for your wall. You should frame and hang your child’s art, and switch it out with every new piece they bring home?
Usable Art – OK, so perhaps an ashtray doesn’t seem sensible anymore. But sometimes that lopsided bowl or ceramic mug work as a key holder? Is it possible you fill it with craft rocks along with a candle and make it a centerpiece for your dresser? Or perhaps the obvious – a pencil holder for your desk at work and a reminder of that pint-sized person waiting for you at home?
Transform it Into Anything! – There are numerous websites which will convert digital photos or art into just about anything. From tote bags, to custom stamps, to mouse-pads and calendars, your child’s art has ample opportunity to shine. That could be good or bad! These also make for easy gifts for grandparents.
The Art Book – Have your child or children select their most favorite art and writing assignments over the school year and place them in a special folder; the rest can be shuffled into the recycle bin. At the end of the year, have your child draw a cover with his or her name, age and grade level. Then bring it to your local copy shop to have the cover laminated and bind the complete collection into a book. You will have a book every year, and ultimately, a collection of memories they (and you) can look through to see their growth over the years. Make sure to include letters to Santa, Father’s Day cards along with other memories.
