For more than 50 years, the Paradoxical Commandments have circled the globe. They’ve been printed, painted, preached, and delivered to millions of people by some of the world’s greatest leaders, educators, ministers, speakers, parents, and teachers. Mother Teresa even had them on the wall of her children’s home in Calcutta. This week, we wanted to share their best wisdom with you. We hope they brighten your Monday, your week, and your life!
Give the World the Best You Have
The Paradoxical Commandments by Kent M. Keith
People are illogical, unreasonable, and self-centered.
Love them anyway.
If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish ulterior motives.
Do good anyway.
If you are successful, you will win false friends and true enemies.
Succeed anyway.
The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow.
Do good anyway.
Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable.
Be honest and frank anyway.
The biggest men and women with the biggest ideas can be shot down by the smallest men and women with the smallest minds.
Think big anyway.
People favor underdogs but follow only top dogs.
Fight for a few underdogs anyway.
What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight.
Build anyway.
People really need help but may attack you if you do help them.
Help people anyway.
Give the world the best you have and you’ll get kicked in the teeth.
Give the world the best you have anyway.
Something to Think About
We live in an often chaotic and challenging world. For most of us, we are bombarded with messaging and media packed with negativity and fueled by divide. The wonderful thing is that we get to choose what we feed our minds and souls, just as we choose the kind of food that we feed our bodies. Fuel yourself with kindness. Empathy. Compassion. Gratitude. Passion. Purpose. Give the world the best that you have and watch great things come back to you in return.
