Renovation planned at Boys & Girls Club with $2.5 million gift from Viniks
This is the largest individual gift $2.5 million within the 90-year history of Boys & Girls Clubs in Tampa Bay plus the recreation center will be renamed the Jeff & Penny Vinik Family Winston Park Boys & Girls Club.“We are the oldest youth-serving organization in the community and have made an impact within the lives of thousands,” Ceo and president Chris Letsos said in a news release. “Our goal is always to make sure that success in within reach of every child, now, and for the next 90 years.”
The current center, consisting of tennis and basketball courts, will be renovated to include a 3,000 square feet expansion along with a covered roller hockey rink. The inside will include a state-of-the-art technology lab, games room, teen center, a theatre, and kitchen which will open into a spacious dining hall.
Today’s announcement coincides with the first day of Boys & Girls Clubs Week, a nationwide celebration of the organization and the nearly 4 million youth served in more than 4,000 clubs across the country.
