Did you make New Year’s resolutions this year? Studies show that about half of adults in North America set new goals or resolutions in January and start off very committed. The most common resolutions are to quit smoking, lose weight, and start exercising. Most of us do really well for about 30 days, but as we enter into February, many get off track. Maybe you are not going to the gym as often as you had planned, or maybe some habits are in need of a reboot, or perhaps you got sick or sidetracked in some other way. Regardless of why, if your resolutions have fallen by the wayside, you’re not alone. Research shows that 80% of resolutions fail within one month, and 88% of goals will ultimately fail. (Yikes!)
Stay Committed to Your Goals
So, if you’re on track – kudos to you! You are part of the top 12% that have it together! If not, don’t fret. There is ALWAYS a way to turn things around and be on the positive side of a statistic!
• Start by re-evaluating your goals if necessary. Sprint goals (short term) are better than annual goals anyway! Most people shelve those January promises until sometimes around November anyway! Think about what you can do in the next 30 days to move the needle on my life and business.
• Get clear on your intention. The thing about goals is that sometimes we make them because they are what OTHERS want of us/from us. That’s rarely motivating FOR us. Set the intention for what you want to do that speaks to your heart and head.
• Be kind to yourself. It’s completely do-able to both be accountable to yourself and kind. Break bigger tasks into smaller ones. Talk to yourself as you would a good friend and be grateful for all the little wins along the way!
It’s a great week to have a great week! What do you want your February to look like? Get crystal clear about it. Now, let’s go make it happen!
Something to Think About
Studies show that people who BELIEVE in their goals are ten times more likely to achieve them. Make this the month that you not only build good skill sets, but you work to improve your mindset and support a strong and healthy belief system.
Weekly Activity
Time for a “check-up from the neck up” as the late, great Zig Ziglar would say. He also said, “Your attitude will determine your altitude.” Where are you in terms of your goals setting, self-care, and beliefs? EVERYTHING about success starts there.

There is nothing in this life that can destroy you but yourself. Bad things happen to everyone, but when they do, you can’t just fall apart and die. You have to fight back. If you don’t, you’re the one who loses in the end. But if you do keep going and fight back, you win. – Alexandra Monir
