March Home Maintenance Tips
- March 13th Daylight Savings Time begins. So before you go to bed on March 12th after you “Spring” your clocks forward one hour, consider replacing the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
- Before you get knee deep into spring cleaning, you should consider the Heating and cooling duct work, did you know you can have them professionally cleaned and sanitized? Nip the allergies off before they take control.
- This is one that is a monthly to do. Change the filter in your heating system and or AC. Thirty days is the longest you should go between changing them out. We even have it as a reminder on our calendar.
- If you are up north you should always check outside hose faucets for freeze damage. The way to do this is turn the water on and put your finger over the opening. If you can stop the flow of the water that may mean there is damage to that pipe that will need to be repaired or replaced.
- Clean the refrigerator, inside and out, you can use a mild detergent. You will want to remove all the trays and shelves. Do not forget to allow everything to dry completely before putting everything back inside.
- To clean your garbage disposal, take two trays of ice cubes made from a mixture of white vinegar and water place them in the disposal and grind away. Afterward you can add a few orange or lemon peels for a nice aroma.
